Rotorua - Rugby World Cup 2011

Rotorua International Stadium, with seating for up to 34,000, is traditionally the domain of local and international sporting events and festivals. Rugby matches are regular fixtures throughout the winter season, with the stadium also popular with athletics, softball and other sporting codes.

Come September 2011, we will be saying 'Kia Ora' (which is the traditional Maori greeting) to our Fijian, Samoan, Russian, Namibian and Irish visitors in New Zealand for the World Cup.


The Games

Rotorua will be hosting three pool matches as follows at Rotorua International Stadium which has a capacity of 34,000.

Saturday 10th September: Fiji v Namibia
Wednesday 14th September: Samoa v Namibia
Sunday 25th September: Ireland v Russia

Dates and locations of where the respective rugby teams will be training for their World Cup games in Rotorua:

Namibian World Cup Rugby Team: from 7th September to 14th September the team will practice and train at the Smallbone Cricket Oval.

Russian World Cup Rugby Team: from September 24th to September 25th the team will practice and train at Rotorua Boys High School.

Irish World Cup Rugby Team: from September 22nd to September 25th the team will practice and train at the Smallbone Cricket Oval.

Fijian World Cup Rugby Team: from September 9th to September 10th the team will practice and train at Rotorua Boys High School.

Samoa World Cup Rugby Team: from September 11th to September 16th the team will practice and train at Rotorua Boys High School.


Getting to Rotorua by Air

Rotorua airport receives regular international services from Sydney and has daily domestic links with New Zealand's main cities Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown. Rotorua Airport is located only a three-minute drive from All Seasons Holiday Park. Shuttle and taxi services provide transport to and from the airport. Rental car companies are based in the terminal building and short and long-term parking is available for private vehicles.


Getting to Rotorua by Road

Rotorua is a leisurely three-hour drive from the gateway city of Auckland (which is holding five pool games, both semi finals, bronze final and final), and a six-hour drive from New Zealand's capital city of Wellington (which is holding four pool games and two quarter finals). For a shorter drive, Rotorua is also a one-hour drive south east of Hamilton (which is holding three pool games) and the same distance south of Tauranga.

Getting to Rotorua International Stadium from All Seasons Holiday Park - 11.2Km drive

1. Head southeast (away from the Lake) on Lee Rd toward Middleton Rd (0.6km)
2. Turn right at Te Ngae Rd.
Go through 2 roundabouts (5.5km)
3. Turn left at Sala St (1.7km)
4. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Fenton St (0.6km)
5. Turn left at Devon St (1.1km)
Go through 1 roundabout
6. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Devon St West (1km)
7. The stadium will be on the right
